Minecraft to introduce AGE Verification.

Minecraft is reportedly set to introduce new age-verification requirements for players in the UK next month, a move that has already sparked controversy among the game’s community.
According to a statement shared on social media, developer Mojang will require owners of adult Minecraft accounts to verify that they are at least 18 years old in order to retain access to social features such as in-game chat.
The verification process will be handled by third-party service Yoti, which claims that all user data is deleted once verification is complete. Mojang says the change is being introduced as part of its compliance with the UK Online Safety Act and is intended to ensure “safe and age-appropriate experiences” for players.
Minecraft’s parent company Microsoft previously rolled out similar age-verification measures for Xbox Game Pass in the UK. In a statement, Microsoft said it will continue to assess how age-verification systems can be implemented globally, noting that “there is no one-size-fits-all solution to player safety” and that future rollouts may differ by region.
Players who choose not to verify their age will face significant restrictions. Communication will be limited to friends on Xbox, third-party services such as Discord will be inaccessible, features like Looking for Group (LFG) will be disabled, and the ability to broadcast gameplay to platforms like Twitch from consoles will be turned off.
The announcement has been met with backlash from some fans, many of whom have expressed concerns over privacy and data security. Similar criticism surfaced last year when players reportedly bypassed age-verification checks in other games by exploiting advanced photo modes, including one in Death Stranding 2: On The Beach.
