Minecraft 1.21.11 Pre-Release 2
by letsrespawn

Mojang is closing out the week with a second pre-release for version 1.21.11, bringing visual tweaks, performance improvements, and a fresh round of bug fixes.
This update focuses primarily on refining how foliage behaves when the See-Through Leaves option is disabled, alongside several stability and audio fixes.
What’s New
- When See-Through Leaves is turned off, gaps between leaves now appear dark green instead of black, creating a more natural look
- Disabling See-Through Leaves now provides a larger performance boost than in previous builds
Bug Fixes
The following issues introduced in 1.21.11 Pre-Release 2 have been resolved:
- Fixed an issue where the locked chest sound could not be heard by other players
- Corrected a grammatical error in the See-Through Leaves tooltip
- Resolved a bug causing locked chest sounds to play from the player instead of the chest
- Removed redundant level data fixer files being saved in world folders
- Fixed a crash that could occur when launching the game without an existing
options.txtfile - Restored proper visuals for non see-through leaves
- Fixed an issue where the attack_range component interfered with hit detection
How to Play the Pre-Release
Pre-releases are available now for Minecraft: Java Edition. To try it out:
- Open the Minecraft Launcher
- Go to the Installations tab
- Enable Snapshots
- Launch the latest pre-release build
⚠️ Pre-release versions may cause world corruption. Always back up your saves or test in a separate world.
Server Downloads
A cross-platform server jar is available for this pre-release.
As part of Mojang’s ongoing efforts to remove obfuscation from Java Edition, players can also test an experimental unobfuscated build using the Minecraft Launcher:
- Download and extract the provided version files into your local
versionsfolder - Restart the launcher
- Create a new installation using 1.21.11_unobfuscated
- Launch the game to complete the download
An unobfuscated server jar is also available for server testing.
